Crochet book from Walmart

There are many crochet tutorial on Youtube.  But I like to broaden my horizon.  I will invest on books also.  Just like this new crochet book I picked up at Walmart for about $5.00  The cover states 86 stitches, and I wanted a new look for my crochet halter tops, and after browsing it quickly inside Walmart, I decided to purchase it and give it a try.  Check out what I learned so far.

I followed the pattern for the fancy fan and used as edging for this halter top and I love it.  Let me know what you guys think.  and leave me a comment below.

Crochet Hook Organizer

A couple of years ago, I crocheted this cell phone cozy using 100% USA cotton.  I love how this piece stood the test of time.  It has been used for  it's intended purpose as a cell phone cozy but also kept my other gadgets safe, such as my portable hardrive and digital cameras.  But I found another great use for it.  Its new mission is now my crochet hook organizer and it's perfect for it.

I am really impressed with this cotton yarn.
It kept its shape and it still looks new after all this time.
I'm gonna have to stock more cotton yarn.

First time I Sharpie my mug

It had to be done.  It's been on my creative list for the longest.  and last night my mug beg me to Sharpie it.  and here it is.

Tips from the pros:

  1. Use a cheap mug from the dollar stores like Dollar Tree, because they have less glaze for their coating.
  2. It's good to go over your artwork
  3. Bake in the oven with 200-250 degree for a few minutes
I'm gonna have to go shopping for a set of Sharpies and more mugs, definitely more mugs :)

Spring Crochet Cardigan

This is so simple.  I am working on the crochet pattern for this.  To summarize it for all others who lack patient such as myself, it is a hexagon cardigan or sweater.

and yes, I finally figured a pattern for the much requested bikini bottoms.  You'll see them in my etsy store soon.

oh and another, I am going crazy looking for this Red Heart mixed color yarn.  I have a couple of orders and can't make it.  I've been to all 3 Walmart stores in my area + one in Griffin Georgia + Michaels + Hobby Lobby and I still can't find it.  I'm gonna have to search online.  But if anyone has a link to where I can get this yarn, please leave it on the comment below.

Much Thanks

Crochet and Cafe

I love that crochet can be intricate and sometimes complicated.  But what I really love about crocheting is it's simplicity.  You don't need much with this art form.  Simply your crochet hook, your choice of yarn and maybe some sharp scissors.

I love how you can take it anywhere, like my favorite cafe.  I don't mind crocheting in the house or my front porch, but crocheting in your favorite cafe brings the redundancy to a halt.  and I get to sip on my favorite mocha or tea and decadent 7 layer brownie.

and after less than an hour and an empty cup of latte my Kindle Tablet crochet cover is complete with flower embellishment and all.

Dollar Tree containers for Yarn

Remember my post regarding my yarn room, where I used Dollar Tree containers to organized my yarn stash?  Well I updated the plastic basket containers to more spring like color.  Check 'em out.

Love my new Retro Blue color.  and because they are only for $1, I was able to switch the fall orange to a more vibrant spring color of Retro Blue.

I also updated the containers for my button collection.
These are also from Dollar Tree.

Got some other basket containers from Dollar Tree using the same color.  Planning on getting more of these containers.

Now I wish I could find the milkrates for the same color, if not, I'm going to see if I can find some can spray paint with similar shade of Retro Blue.

still a work in progress.  It helps me to create more when my stash is neat and organized.
Share me your  yarn stash and organization ideas.
