Don’t Throw Away Your Leftover Yarn, Make Granny Squares!

One thing I never do after finishing a crochet project is throw away my leftover yarn. Even the smallest bits can become something beautiful. Instead, I turn those scraps into granny squares.

Whenever I don’t have a specific project in mind but still feel like crocheting, I start making squares. I’ll crochet one here and there, collect them, and before long I have enough to create something fun and useful.

That’s how many of my projects begin — like this classic granny square scarf and this easy tote bag. Both are simple to make and perfect for using up yarn that might otherwise go to waste.

The wonderful thing about granny squares is how versatile they are. With just three rows of a basic granny square, you can create so many things:
scarves, tote bags, purses, blankets, pillow covers, and more.

For me, crocheting granny squares is relaxing and inspiring. It’s my go-to project whenever I just want to create something with my hands.

Would you be interested in a pattern, tutorial, or even a video showing how I make these?

If so, please leave a comment below!

And if you have any questions, ideas, or suggestions for future projects, I’d love to hear from you. Your feedback helps inspire the next creation!

Happy crocheting!

Winter Solstice Granny Square Bag

This is another granny square bag I crocheted, but this time I wanted something different. Most granny square bags are bright and colorful, but I chose a more monochrome palette inspired by the quiet beauty of the winter solstice. The soft grays and cream tones give it a calm, cozy feel for the season. Once it was all put together, I realized how much I love the simplicity of it. Sometimes less color lets the texture and pattern truly shine.

From Granny Squares to a Beautiful Handmade Bag

There’s something so satisfying about turning simple granny squares into something you can actually use every day. Recently, I started crocheting sunflower granny squares and stitching them together to create this handmade crochet bag, and I have to say, it was such a fun and relaxing project.

The process was surprisingly easy. Once I got into the rhythm of making the squares, they worked up quickly. Before I knew it, I had enough squares to start assembling the bag. I enjoyed it so much that I ended up making several of them!

One thing I wanted to make sure of was that the bag would be durable and practical, so I added a fabric lining to the inside. Getting the handles just right took a few tries, but once I figured it out, everything came together beautifully. It’s always satisfying when a handmade project turns out both functional and stylish.

I truly enjoyed crocheting this project and seeing each bag come to life. Because I had so much fun making them, I’ve decided to offer some of the bags for sale.

If you’re interested in one of these handmade crochet bags, feel free to **convo me through my Instagram account or send me an email. I’d love for one of these pieces to find a new home!

Cancel more subscription to save money.

I've cancelled more subscription this month to save more of my hard earn money.

I've cancelled Audible.
I thought I was going to binge on audible to gain more knowledge this year.
But what I recently found out is that Youtube has plenty of ebooks I can listen to.
The price $16.15

I've cancelled MGM & STARZ before they could renew this month of October.

another thing I've cancelled this month of October is Mudwtr drink.
I have enough to last me for the winter.   The price for this monthly subscription is $41.60

what I probably forgot to include in this list is all the AI apps I tried and not keep
X, Gemini, and I'm cancelling ChatGPT because it's just not as smart as I thought.  I'm actually using the pro version which is the $200 per month tier.
that's a whole other chapter I'll cover in a different post.

So I'm hoping with all this cancelling, I want to be able to save $450 per month
I will continue to update this post to see if I'm able to save every month.

So this month, I have stop subscription equaling to  $75.73
not counting what I spent on trying out some AI stuff.

I'm going to continue to find out where my hard earn funds are going to.

I thought I cancelled this Discovery+ already
but I was charged $9.99

This is a big one.  I was just charged $200 for the Pro Chatgpt.
Cancelled it to downgrade to the Plus version $20 per month.

So next month I will be saving closed to $200 extra per month.

My new monthly savings from cancelling subscription is now $265.72.
I will continue to update this page.
Not till I look at my credit card statement do I find subscriptions.
So I am no longer just paying my credit card bills, I am now reading them.

===================================
Omg!  I found another subscription today.
It’s from Amazon.  Shipping boxes for $31.02
