Crochet Pattern for a Beanie Hat

Here is a basic crochet pattern for a beanie hat:

Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn
  • Crochet hook (size H/8 or I/9)
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

Abbreviations:

  • ch = chain
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • sc = single crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • st = stitch
  • rnd = round

Instructions:

  1. Start by chaining a multiple of 2 stitches, plus 1. For example, if you want a beanie that is 21 inches in circumference, you would chain 53 stitches.
  2. Join the chain with a sl st to form a loop.
  3. Work in continuous rounds (without joining at the end of each round) for the remainder of the pattern.
  4. For the first round, work 1 sc in each chain around.
  5. For the next round, work 1 dc in each stitch around.
  6. Repeat round 5 until the beanie reaches your desired length.
  7. To finish, cut the yarn and weave in the ends with a yarn needle.

Note: This pattern is for a basic beanie hat without a brim. You can add a brim by working a few rounds of sc stitches before starting the body of the hat, or add a pom pom or tassel to the top for extra decoration.
